Since 2021, the French Permanent Representations in Geneva have had the privilege of hosting three beehives (each housing 60,000 bees) in the parc of the villa des Ormeaux.

The agents of the Permanent Representation of France to the Conference on Disarmament and the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations Office in Geneva, in the presence of Ambassador Bonnafont and Ambassador Hwang, shared a moment of conviviality at the Chalet de la Paix in the park of the villa des Ormeaux to taste the first harvest of honey produced on site.

This event is the fruit of the two missions’ longstanding work and commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, as symbolised by their membership to the Green Embassy project.

Did you know? Pregny-Chambésy, the commune in which the villa des Ormeaux is located, was between 1750 and 1795 the home of François Huber (1750-1831), one of the fathers of modern beekeeping.
