69th UNGA: Resolution "Preventing the acquisition by terrorists of radioactive sources" [fr]
France submitted two draft resolutions to the First Committee of the 69th United Nations General Assembly that was held from the 6th oc October to the 4th of November, 2014.
The First resolution, titled "Preventing the acquisition by terrorists of radioactive sources", underlines the concern of international community regarding the consequences that may cause the misuse of certain radioactive sources for terrorists pruposes. The aim of this text is to mobilize all the members of the United Nations against this threat, by inviting them to take concrete measures in order to prevent the acquisition of radioactive soruces by terrorists, especially by controlling and securing such sources. The resolutions also calls for a reinforcement of the international legal framework, as well as a deepening of the international cooperation on that matter.
