France organized, jointly with its American, British, Chinese and Russian partners, a side event, in order to present the P5 process and activities, as a support to the implementation of the NPT. This side event fits into the framework of the P5 activities coordination, led this year by France

This event enabled, for the first time in the margin of the First Committee of the UNGA, to present the concrete activities led by the P5 to support the NPT, notably the writing of a glossary, the activities about transparency and reporting, the implementation and checking of the New Start treaty and the cheking of nuclear disarmament.

The workshop led to an exchange with a larger audience of more than a hundred participants, showing the interest for the P5 consultation within the framework of the First Committee, and, more broadly, talks on nuclear disarmament.
