Arms Trade Treaty : Consultations on the permanent Secretariat (Geneva, on the 29th of January, 2015) [fr]
Within the framework of the preparatory process to the First Conference of the State-parties to the Arms Trade Treaty, France has been in charge of coordinating the talks on the ATT permanent Secretariat matter.
A first meeting was held on the 30th of January at the Palais des Nations, with around thirty delegations present.
The meeting enabled to work on several issues regarding the Secretariat : its role and its tasks, the human resources matters, the administrative structure and the institutional dispositions, as well as the relations with the State-parties. France also submitted a survey to all the State-parties and signatories of the ATT.
The goal of this consultation process is to study in detail the diverse available options, and to prepare the ground for the decision-making process during the First meeting of the State-parties, that will be held at the end of the summer 2015 in Mexico.
