H.E Jean Claude Brunet, chair-designate of the UN PoA on SALW in Lima (Peru) for a regional preparatory meeting [fr]

Ambassador Jean-Claude Brunet, president-designate of the third Revision Conference of the United Nations Programme of Action on small arms and light weapons (SALW), attended the first regional preparatory meeting of the RevCon, which will be held from the 18th to the 29th of June, 2018. This regional meeting gathered Latin American States, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC), the think tank Small Arms Survey, as well as the European Union.

Grateful for the invitation, the French presidency took part in talks on regional priorities regarding the fight against SALW trafficking. The fight against weapons diversion, reinforcing transparency and integrating the issue of ammunitions were part of the topics addressed. Participants also discussed the regional context and shared national best pratices.
