Louis Riquet, Deputy Permanent Representative [fr]
Mr. Louis Riquet has been appointed Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva in August 2014.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Louis Riquet served from 2012 to 2014 as office director at the Human Resources Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. He previously was second counsellor at the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations in New-York (2011-2012), after having served one year as a Transatlantic Diplomatic Fellow with the Department of State of the United States of America.
Before his service in the United States, Mr. Louis Riquet was an advisor to the Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris (2008-2010). He had previously spent three years in Beijing from 2005 to 2008, as a political advisor to the Delegation of the European Commission to China. Prior to joining the Quai d’Orsay for a diplomatic career, M. Louis Riquet has worked for the Ministry of Defense, which he joined in 1993.
A former student at the Institute of Political Sciences of Strasbourg, Mr. Louis Riquet also graduated from the French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations as well as from the Nanjing University. He speaks French, English and Chinese.
