Meeting of CCW experts on lethal autonomous weapons systems (Geneva, 11-15 of April, 2016) [fr]

From the 11th to the 15th of April, the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons held its third meeting of experts on lethal autonomous weapons systems. Initiated by France in 2013, this forward-looking reflection has known a strong interest from the international community and the civil society.

France pursues its commitment on that matter and presided the session to map the developments in the field of autonomy on Monday the 11th of April in the afternoon.

France submitted three working papers for the purpose of this meeting :

- On the characterization of a LAWS

- On the mapping of technological developments

- On the legal framework for any potential development and operational use of a future lethal autonomous weapons system (LAWS)
