UNIDIR workshop on improvised explosive devices (IED) (Geneva, 6 and 7 March 2017)
This UNIDIR workshop took place on 6 and 7 March 2017 in Geneva, thanks to funding provided by the Government of the French Republic. Its objective was to provide the private sector stakeholders with a forum, so that they could exchange views and contribute to the fight against the flow of improvised explosive devices (IED).
Some 15 to 20 representatives from all relevant sectors (manufacture of explosives, fertilizers, base chemicals, pyrotechnics, extractive industries, electronics) met in a closed-doors session for one and a half day.
A States-only segment had been organized in advance, so that around 10 States involved in fighting IED dissemination could exchange views on their expectations towards the private sector stakeholders.
